Sleep no good
Haven't been sleeping well lately. It's like on and off switch, never shuts completely, never really all the way gone. Not sure if it's stress, or what. Just know that it's a bothersome occurrence. It's still not as bad as insomnia, where I don't get any sleep. I just don't fall into sleep that deeply. It's fine. Perhaps it's the weather. The following days this week is going to be fun. Today's Dave's birthday and we had lunch. He didn't really like the present I got him, because he didn't feel he would need one. Oh well, I kind of knew it would happen, he's not easy. He said he's going to think about it. Tomorrow we're having our weekly dinner, and he said there will be a surprise guest. I wonder who this person is going to be. Probably an ex friend of his. Or simply an ex?! We'll see. Thursday night I'm having dinner with Eric and Mike, who are finally taking a vacation. Speaking of which, I should find a good place to dine in the Anaheim or Buena Park area. Then there's more dinner fun with other friends throughout the week. There's also Dave's birthday pizza party on Sunday. Oh boy. Time to hit to the gym!

Loud AC
LA has been ridiculously hot these past few days. The fire that has consumed the mountains and the cities around them is just as devastating. I have no choice, I must turn my AC on when I'm home. Last night I decided to go back to sleeping in my bedroom. Yea, I spent two nights on my couch in the living room last week because my portable AC was just too loud. The living room has enough space to distance me from the AC noise, so I can stay in sleep better. This setup actually worked the first night, but not the second. Perhaps it was because I took a nap that day, or the couch was just not very comfortable this time around, I decided it was time to go back to the bedroom. Things actually went fine last night. I slept well and woke up this morning feeling good. Then of course I had to go and take a nap this afternoon, and potentially ruin tonight's sleep. Ugh.

Must resist napping
I was a good boy today. I went to work, came home, went to the gym, and came back home again. No one called me, so I didn't have an excuse to go out. I ate some leftover food and that was my dinner. I was tired, but I keep myself awake. Last night I didn't sleep very well. I was tossing and turning and thinking about all sorts of stuff. I didn't want to spend another night like that, so I resisted napping at all cost before and after dinner. My goal is to have a thorough and non-disruptive bedtime tonight.

4 days in a row
So I ended up working today too. When the week started I seriously didn't expect to work 4 days in a row, LOL! Is it weird to think that working is actually good for you? I mean, besides the paycheck and the feeling of security, I also found myself sleeping pretty well these past few days. When I have a goal and a set routine I seem to have less a problem sleeping through the night. Tomorrow I'm back to my normal, casual schedule, then on Saturday I have to work again. Overall pretty awesome week I have to say.

Didn't sleep much
I didn't sleep well last night. Eversince I got laid off whenever I have to work the next day I cannot sleep. It doesn't matter if I nap on that day or not. When it comes to bedtime I spend most of the hours lying awake, thinking, worrying about random stuff. It's stress. It's anxiety. It's whatever. This probably also means I'm getting old. Great. Old, jobless and an insomniac! Thank goodness I only turn into an insomniac when I have work the following day, so I'm not completely hopeless yet. I do sleep fine normally. Weird.

Gonna try to sleep better
I didn't sleep very well last night. I didn't know why. It wasn't that hot. Fortunately the AC was ready if I needed it. Well, I decided not to take a nap this afternoon, hopefully that would do the trick.
My old manager called today to ask me a question on the document we uploaded. We went back and forth on the phone, and finally he asked when I could give him the answer. I just flat out told him that there was no way for me to figure this out away from work. I didn't have the files at home, so I couldn't run the necessary tests to confirm the results. It's like, there's a reason why you want someone there full-time! So, until I go back into the office, he'll just have to wait.

Work feels good
I worked 5 hours today. It actually went well. I was focused and taking care of business. I will be back tomorrow too. Remembering how I was reluctant about returning to work, it's a relief that I had a good time today. I visited Dave and we went grocery shopping. I was supposed to help Dave with some Craigslist listing and selling, he wasn't in the mood. I can't say I was either. I fell asleep while Dave was preparing dinner. Jose came in when I was dozing off on the couch. I think I was out for an hour. I haven't been sleeping very well since the freaky heat wave hit LA. The temperature became milder last two nights, but still I couldn't sleep comfortably at all. Sigh. I hope I get my sleep back.
I ate a lot tonight. The hamburger came out wonderfully and the fries were amazing. I had 2 burgers, lots of fries, grilled beans, a slice of cherry pie, and scoops of Dave's homemade vanilla ice cream. So full! Dave was like, you're still eating? Yep. I usually turn into a pig when I go to Dave's, there's no denying that!

Only work day this week
I was 15 minutes early this morning when I got to work. I couldn't sleep well last night and woke up before 6 o'clock this morning. Not knowing what to do, I decided to apply for some jobs before getting ready to leave. I was a productive little bee, at home and in the office. Even though I only slept for a couple of hours I didn't feel tire. It's days like this that remind me work is good, focus is good, and making an effort is good.
LA is raining today. It relaxes me. I hope to sleep through the night, no stress, no interruptions.

Spider and lizard
I woke up before 5 AM this morning. I had a bad dream. I saw a big, giant spider in my bedroom, crawling from the ceiling coming down the wall. Then I saw a big, black, and slimy lizard like creature, moving towards me, and forcing its way out of the bedroom after I hurried and shut it closed. The door was almost pushed open, I saw its head and tongue peeking under, then I woke up. I remember looking around my bed and realized it was just a dream. I couldn't go back to sleep after that. So I got up. I went back to bed around 6:40 and slept for another 4 hours.
Checking on dream dictionary on the words lizard and spider, I found they had a common thread: creativity. Does this mean I am going to explore or express more of my creative skills? Or does it mean that I already have been. Whatever. I know it's kind of nonsense to read too much into this, but I need some kind of an explanation to my weird and strangely vivid dream. I mean, I didn't remember what I dreamed after I took that second nap. I slept again after lunch too, and nothing came to mind. So why not find out what other people say about it. Yes I know. I slept a lot today.

Spicy and Sweet
I had a relaxing day today. I went to the gym in the morning, came back and had lunch. The afternoon was spent mostly online and in bed. Then I had dinner at Hunan Chilli King with Dave Jose Cameron and his friends. It was a lot of spicy food, but I made sure we had a couple of dishes that weren't so mouth-burning. The fish-head was a hit, so was the eggplant with string beans. We also had sweets at Fosselman's. The taro + rocky road + pumpkin ice cream sundae was a perfect dessert to end this first week back in town.
I am feeling sleepy now but Dexter is on - This jetlag thing is good in a way. I rarely felt like I could go to bed before 11 and this week the sleepy bug kept hitting me around 8, 9, and 10. Should I accept this and perhaps make it my new routine? It's possible.

Busy
My first day after leaving that awful place turned out to be pretty busy. First thing in the morning, I submitted my unemployment claim. Then I gathered all my parking stubs, taped them down neatly, and went to the post office to mail them out. I also wrote a nice note for the HR dept for helping me. I wasn't very sure if the company would really reimburse me. I was just glad to send all those stubs away and never had to see them around again. The next stop was my bank. I deposited the last two checks I received. The teller asked me about the company, I was surprised that I didn't badmouth my experience there. Seriously, why would he care what happened to me there? And why would I bother anyway? I no longer worked there and talking about it would just bring back the lousy memories.
Then I went to the gym and did some exercise. During noon time I found there were many more ladies working out and not as many men. I wondered if I had also become one of the housewife types. I didn't mind. I could totally get used to this lifestyle, hahaha! I came home around 1 o'clock and had the pasta my neighbor gave me a couple nights ago for lunch. The daytime TV was horrible, suddenly I realized I should get my butt up to do some work. So I started working on the project my ex-manager handed me over the weekend. The designer they hired after me was terrible. She was sloppy, inconsistent, and clueless. After I edited the document I had to fix all her mistakes. It took me longer to correct her stuff than it would take me to make the changes my ex-manager needed. I couldn't finish the project today. It would be another few hours before I could turn the ad in - I guess that's good. I do get paid by the hours :)
PR5 was a little anti-climatic tonight. Jose and I both picked the right winner. Yay! I don't know if moving the show to Lifetime will affect our viewing. As long as they don't change the format too much, most likely we will keep watching it.
I did sleep better last night. Stepping away from a bad situation indeed does a body good!

A nap after lunch
Today was a slow and easy day. It was so laid-back that I took a nap right after lunch in the cafe! A co-worker and I ate together and after we finished, we both were feeling the inevitable food coma. "Oh I can really use a nap right now," I said.
"Me too," she replied.
We had about 20 minutes before returning to the office. So I put my lunch bag on the table, then my head on top of it. She just rested in her arms. At first I thought there was no way I could fall asleep like that. Guess again - I quickly passed out and was gone for good 10 - 15 minutes. It was kind of awesome and scary. I just slept with a co-worker, inside the building cafe, on the table with 10s of other people eating and chatting around us.
It was great though. I didn't feel nappy for the rest of the day.

Migration of the old laptop
Last night's fireworks didn't end quietly. It went on well into the night, past the midnight hour, then kept on for another couple of hours. Around 3:30 a crowd near my neighborhood got rowdy. Some drunk girl was extremely obnoxious and loud. She was joined by a bunch of guys and girls, all screaming and yelling and crying. I had no idea what they were fighting about. I wanted to turn my AC back on, but I was dried out earlier, so I left it off. The noise did not calm down for another hour or so. I was drifting in and out of sleep. It was a struggle.
This morning I woke up around 8:10 and again, couldn't fall back to sleep anymore. I woke up, watered the plants, and managed to pull my old laptop into my bedroom. It's very ghetto the way it looks. Since I don't have wireless internet set-up I carefully and neatly extended all the cables and wires to my bedroom. Their length was just long enough to reach a corner of my bed facing the door. So I had to be mindful moving the laptop and getting in or out of the room. I know, lame-O. Still, it's nice to lay in bed and use my computer at the same time.
I'm getting lazier and lazier. At first I had the laptop on the bar panel by the kitchen sink, and I always stood to use it. Then a month ago I moved it to my table in the living room, because I wanted to sit down to use it while watching TV. I also had to play with the wiring to make sure it had enough to reach the table. And now, all the way to the bedroom, and I'm lying down. Such a lazy ass.

Another sleepless night
I've begun to notice a pattern - I don't sleep well on Sundays. Last night I was mostly awake laying in bed. I could hear my iMac making the tiniest sounds. I was also aware of the birds and insects chirping enthusiastically outside my apartment. I knew my blanket got very very warm and I was feeling super thirsty. No, it was not at all restful.
I got up around 5:30 this morning. I didn't really want to, but it was useless to stay in bed when my eyes were wide open. Work was fortunately uneventful, and I became quite sleepy after lunch. I submitted another job application after recovering from my food coma, and now I'm waiting to go home. Just another Monday.

Sleepless night
Last night I had very little sleep. I fell asleep fast, but woke up fast too. For some reason my head was thinking about the DH's season finale. Especially the scene where the story jumped forward 5 years and Susan was with a new husband / boyfriend, it was bugging my mind. I know, I sound crazy. I tossed and turned for a while, then I got up to turn off the fan. Then my bedroom got hot and stuffy, so I got up again to turn the fan back on. I got out of bed again to have some water. It was like in and out of sleep the entire night. When I finally felt like I was truly sleepy, of course it was time to get ready for work :(

Hot
It was so hot last night, I couldn't sleep. I was in bed, tossing and turning, sweating, thinking. It was probably the caffeine in the tea that I had at Dave's. Or was it Z's email? I think I had less than 2 hours of sleep. I thought about getting up and watching TV or doing something else besides trying to sleep. My mind was going all directions, racing. I was exhausted but I couldn't rest. I drifted in and out of sleep, mostly out. I got up to have another glass of water. I went to the bathroom once. I turned the fan on, then when it got cooler I got up again to turn it off. It's not fun.
I hope I can sleep better tonight.

Bad knee & Sleeplessness
Today I checked my visa balance and finally, FINALLY, Macy's refunded the e-card I mistakenly ordered for Jen. That was a good start this morning.
At work I was asked to start making a new email advertisement. I found time inbetween test-runs to check on job ads and sent my resume to one company. There were two other places that I was interested in applying, but one's email box got full and the other job was no longer available when I was ready to send. It just shows there are lots of job seekers out there. Must have determination and patience patience patience.
My left knee was hurting today and I didn't sleep well last night. I am not sure if the two were related. I was tossing and turning all night last night, and couldn't do it anymore. I finally woke up for good at 5 am this morning. I credited Dave's birthday party for my sleeplessness. I guess I was still excited over the whole event even when it was over hours ago when I went to bed. It was definitely a great dinner party, old and new friends, laughs and surprises, too joyful for sleeping! But that doesn't explain my knee. Oh well, I still went to the gym and it was fine afterwards.

Losing sleep
For the last few days I have been losing sleep. My bathroom door, or this specific corner, suddenly starts to make a sharp chirping noise after 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning. At first I wasn't sure if the sound came from the outside or inside of my apartment, but after being woken up more than once and carefully investigating the source of that noise, I discovered it was originated in my bathroom.
It's creepy. Because I can't see what it is exactly that has been making that chirping noise every early morning. I only know it's probably in the door, or by the door, or under the tile beneath the door. Somewhere somehow in that corner of the bathroom lives a creature that enjoys singing out loud, or rather, disrupting my sleep regularly. I would get out of the bed, walk into the bathroom, shake or hit the door, wait for the noise to stop, and go back to sleep. Then Mr. Chirp would pick up right where it left off and started to "sing" again. It could really drive me crazy.
Dave and Jose said it wouldn't live that long. Let's hope so. I really like my sleep. Whatever it is, please move, or die. Thanks.
